As Christ has invited us to “Come and to take up our cross and follow Him”, we would like to share with you and invite you to be a part of our exciting journey with Jesus and our F.A.I.T.H. Fantastic Adventure In Trusting Him Has there been a more anxious, fear laden and perhaps even hopeless era in our lifetime? Worldwide economic pressure coupled with the uncertainty of war and terror have taken a toll on our homes, communities and our entire nation. Even “solid” families are finding it difficult to meet the challenges of “normal life” in this time of struggle. Imagine for a moment… being a father or a mother… a husband or a wife… facing the same concerns for your family but being separated from them and unable to help them face these daunting demands. There are over 150,000 men and women incarcerated in Texas prisons at present. They are not without guilt; each one has a story laced with mistakes and missteps. But behind every story is a family touched by the "ripple effects" of their sin, and without Christ, the curse will continue to be passed down to future generations. |

...without Christ, the curse will continue to be passed down to future generations.
As difficult as it is for those of us in the “free world” to cope with the pressures around us, the effects are multiplied on the men, women and families represented by each prison inmate. In many cases those incarcerated must turn away from their families “on the outside”, unable to assist them in their struggle to survive. Spouses and children are made dependent on a welfare system that is overloaded and addictive. A repetitious cycle of neglect, offense and punishment awaits many of the family members of those who are incarcerated.
Additionally, it is a sobering thought that thousands of men and women each year are released back into our communities (over 10,000 a year are released into Harris county alone) without the slightest hope of re-entering society in a productive manner. Many of them lack productive job experience and will soon be relying on their criminal skills to prey on new victims. There is a reason why Texas prisons are no longer referred to as “Correctional Facilities”. Nothing is being corrected. The number of people incarcerated is growing each year with more and more housing facilities being built daily.
